Jack Kemp, quarterback turned politician, dies
Former pro quarterback, Jack Kemp, died of cancer at age 73. Kemp died at his home in Bethesda, Md. On Saturday, shortly after 6 p.m. Kemp died, said Marci Robinson. Kemp was diagnosed with an unknown type of cancer, in January. He was the former quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, represented western New York for nine terms in congress, and left for a nonsuccessful Republican nomination for president in 1988. Eight years later he made it into the national ticket as Bob Dole's running mate against President Bill Clinton's bid for re-election. Kemp was against abortion and pushed for immigration reform to include a guest-worker program and status for the illegal immigrants in the already in the U.S.
